Drive of conveyor belts

What kind of drive types are available? How can the speed be regulated?

Our conveyor belts are delivered with a specified nominal speed using various motors and gears. This speed can be changed depending on the type of drive:

Brushless DC drive (FB10, FB14):

The nominal speed is reached at 24 V. It can be adjusted towards 0 in 2 ways:

  • With a rotary potentiometer attached to the circuit board of the control electronics or an analog line to which 0-5V is applied.
  • With the FB10 conveyor belt there is also the option of attaching a rotary potentiometer in the conveyor belt bracket on the drive side (accessory)

Brushed DC drive (FB21, FB13):

The nominal speed is reached at 24V. It can be set down to 0 using the DR10 speed controller (accessory).

Three-phase drive (FB12):

The nominal speed is reached at 50Hz. It can be changed by ± 70% using a frequency converter (accessory).

Pneumatic cycle drive (FB11):

Drive via pneumatic cylinder with swivel lever and ball bearing freewheel. The speed control takes place via 2 adjustable one-way flow control valves on the cylinder.

What is a brushless DC motor?

A brushless DC motor is a DC motor without sliding contacts (brushes). In brushless motors, there is no electrical contact between the moving rotor and the stationary stator. The brushes are used for the electrical connection between rotor and stator via slip rings or commutator and are subject to wear due to mechanical abrasion and brush fire.

With brushless electric motors, there are no slip rings or commutators and brushes, and such a motor has a longer service life.

How is the conveyor belt guided laterally?

The rollers of the conveyor belt have a spherical shape. The belt tension and the angle of the roller can be adjusted using adjusting screws at both ends of the roller axis. The belt always runs on the set to which the lower belt tension is applied. The angle of the rollers is adjusted so that the belt runs in the middle of the roller.
